Services

I provide mobile veterinary physiotherapy services in Oxfordshire, and parts of Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire, doing home and yard appointments.

Please note - all animals require veterinary consent prior to receiving any treatment. This is in accordance with The Veterinary Surgeons Act (1966) and the Veterinary Surgeons (Exemptions) Order 2015, where I am legally required to contact your Veterinary Surgeon to gain consent for treatment. Therefore, prior to an appointment I ask that you contact me, via phone or email, so I receive the required information in order to contact your Veterinary Centre for consent. If a referral form has not been received prior to your appointment, it may need to be rescheduled.

Please see below for a selection of the services offered to you and your animals.

Laser Therapy

Omega Laser

Emily Launchbury Veterinary Physiotherapy is pleased to offer Class IIIB Laser Therapy. The system offered is the Omega Laser, with infra-red laser and multi wavelength cluster laser.

Laser therapy is an alternative therapy used to manage pain, inflammation (swelling), and for wound healing. It uses wavelengths of light to deliver energy to the cells within the animals body. These wavelengths are able to travel through the skin and go deeper into the body to the required areas.

Laser therapy can be used during a repeat physiotherapy appointment, or as a standalone treatment option.

Enquire today to find out more about laser therapy with how it may benefit your animal, and their musculoskeletal system.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy

Emily Launchbury Veterinary Physiotherapy also offers Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMFT). The system offered is the Westville Biomag2.

PEMFT is a form of inductive therapy which uses the power of a pulsed field to promote tissue repair and encourage cell activity. It is a non-invasive treatment method which also helps to encourage relaxation.

It promotes the growth of new cells, therefore, having an influence on bone, nerve regeneration, wound healing and tendon injuries. It can also be used to treat acute/chronic pain, oedema and inflammation. â€‹

PEMFT can be used during a repeat physiotherapy session. This is largely based on your own animals requirements, and if deemed necessary and clinically reasoned appropriate.

Mobility Assessment

Corgi

Mobility assessments encompasses several parts to generate an overview of the animal. It evaluates their physical capabilities, range of motion and overall mobility.

It includes all the assessment parts of the initial physiotherapy sessions - such as static and dynamic assessment, range of motion, palpation and the general animal overview.

These sessions can be completed WITHOUT veterinary consent prior. This is because there is no treatment included. The assessment is carried out of your animal, and a report is written and sent to yourself and your vet of the findings from the session.  Conclusions can then be made as to whether it is believed physiotherapy would be beneficial for your animal.

Desensitisation Session

Emily Launchbury Veterinary Physiotherapy offers sessions where your animals can get used to me in a safe environment. I want each animal I see to be comfortable with receiving treatment. Many animals suffer with anxiety around new people, especially coming into the home, although some will cope well, however, also some will not. These sessions are aimed at helping your anxious animal feel more comfortable with a new situation.

Desensitisation sessions are 30 minutes long, typically in your own home, but other suitable locations could be arranged. These initially will involve minimal hands on interactions. There will be no pressure put on your animal for them to engage with myself. They will be allowed to greet me at their own pace. Depending on how they respond would depend on how the sessions progress.

During these sessions we will be able to discuss your animals medical history and their individual needs based on what you would like to gain from the sessions. It essentially covers all the hands off and discussion parts of the initial assessment, without there being any pressure for a full physiotherapy session. â€‹

These would typically be more targeted towards canines and felines, however, equines would also benefit particularly if they are flighty.
